Our Mission

To form young people with a creative and active spirit, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their convictions. We emphasize the development of each student from a spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical perspective.

The Sustainable Development Goals provide us with a roadmap to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, education, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, and prosperity.

Grounded in the 4th Sustainable Development Goal, our mission is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all and to promote lifelong learning opportunities. Lycée Technique Sainte Marie in Burundi is structured around an educational project that aims to develop the values of respect, openness, dialogue, solidarity, and practical know-how.

  • "To train a skilled workforce, in sufficient numbers, compatible with the needs of both the community and national economy" for the development of the country and the personal interest of the student.
  • Depending on its resources and capacity, Lycée Technique Sainte Marie welcomes every young person to help them identify, develop, and deepen their potential and talents. This is built on a technological foundation that allows students to gain high-level technical expertise through well-equipped laboratories, enabling them to acquire the necessary technical skills.
  • Lycée Technique Sainte Marie is an integral part of society and trains the citizen actors of tomorrow. It raises awareness among everyone regarding the events happening around them and encourages the emergence of a multicultural society that is respectful of the most vulnerable and of democratic rules, where the fulfillment of everyone is a reality. In doing so, Lycée Technique Sainte Marie awakens every student to their obligations and duties as a citizen of a society that respects human rights.
  • To allow everyone to thrive, Lycée Technique Sainte Marie defines itself as a place for learning knowledge (savoir), practical know-how (savoir-faire), and interpersonal/social skills (savoir-être). In this context, every student, parent, director, teacher, educator, and any other member of the educational community commits to daily improvement through an internship program that provides access to highly qualified trainers.
  • Knowledge is based on the curricula of the Ministry of Education of Burundi.
  • In addition to technical knowledge, there is an equal focus on interpersonal skills, which requires developing a series of attitudes: physical well-being, intellectual development, a curiosity for knowledge, a critical mind, a sense of effort and a job well done, the ability to work in a team and take on responsibilities, and finally, a sense of service and respect for oneself, others, and the common good.
  • Starting with the young person and their unique potential to build a well-rounded personality, the ultimate goal is to enable everyone to become themselves: a free adult who respects themselves and others, masters their professional knowledge, is open to dialogue, shows solidarity, and is capable of making commitments, making choices, and successfully pursuing higher or university education, or entering professional life.

Through this project, Lycée Technique Sainte Marie hopes that it will be of great benefit to all various stakeholders, particularly students and teachers, and that it will contribute to enhancing the acquisition of skills for our graduates, thereby facilitating their socio-professional integration, self-employment, or access to higher education.
