A little while ago, our local Communal Administrator and Zone Chief reached out to us with a challenge: a large plot of land right in front of our school had become completely overgrown with wild brush and weeds. We knew we had to help.
We took charge of the space and turned the cleanup into an opportunity for our neighbors, hiring 10 local workers to help clear the land. It was a wonderful team effort that put temporary income directly into the hands of families right here in our community.
But we didn’t want to just clear the dirt—we wanted to grow something meaningful. Now that the soil is ready, we have planted more than 30 avocado trees. Once they grow, these trees will be entirely for public use, offering fresh, healthy fruit to anyone in the community who needs it.
This project means so much to us. It is a living, breathing symbol of what happens when the school, local leaders, and neighbors roll up their sleeves and work side-by-side to build a better, greener future for everyone.
